Q1024: I want to celebrate VE Day, can I do so in the light of the Coronavirus restrictions?

This year marks the 75th anniversary of VE Day, with celebrations and commemorative events taking place from the 8th to the 10th May. Naturally many people will wish to mark the occasion themselves. However, there will be no lifting of the Government's Coronavirus restrictions during this time and the same rules and guidance still apply.

Celebrating in your own home / garden is of course permitted, though gatherings of people from different households and holding street parties are not and people may be issued fines for doing so.

If you suspect someone is breaking the rules during the celebrations then we advise you to report it to your local police force. See Q1020 for further details.

Please also see The Royal British Legion's website in Related Information for events and activities taking place to mark this occasion.
